If you are planning a trip that will last longer than 183 days you will need to buy our backpacker travel insurance.

Backpacker trips, by their very nature, tend to be longer trips than a standard holiday. As such, most travel insurance companies offer specialist travel insurance for backpackers.

Backpacker insurance will cover you for a longer trip duration.

  • On our standard single trip policies, the maximum trip limit is 183 days.
  • In contrast, our backpacker travel insurance policies cover you for a maximum trip of 547 days.

At starttravel.co.uk we offer backpacker travel insurance for anybody up to 65 years of age.

The chances are you will have booked your backpacking trip quite a while in advance of actually going.

You should purchase backpacker travel insurance as soon as your trip is booked. Doing so will provide you with cover for cancellation or unexpected illness which could prevent your trip from going ahead.

Backpacking trips are all about new experiences and adventure.

We understand that you may wish to try new activities on your trip such as scuba diving, bridge walking, bungee jumping, paddle boarding or safari.

For our best backpacker insurance opt for our Premier backpacker travel insurance cover, which has the added benefit of personal accident cover as well as higher levels of cover against other benefits such as cancellation, personal money, and personal possessions.

In the event of trip interruption or a voluntary break, all cover ends when you return to the United Kingdom. Cover on your backpacking travel insurance starts again when you leave the United Kingdom to resume your insured backpacking trip and ends when you return to your home, provided both events are within the policy period.
