A visit to the Panama Canal and its associated Miraflores Visitor Centre are considered must-see activities, as is a trip to the town of Gamboa, located on a bend in the Chagres River at the edges of the rainforest. Panama City
City lovers won't be disappointed by the culturally diverse capital, Panama City, offering all the trappings of a modern metropolis, together with an atmospheric Old Town (Casco Viejo).
If you have your fill of the dazzling wildlife in the rainforest or the-chilled out vibes of the capital, you can always head down to the beach for a spot of relaxation, Caribbean style. You might snorkel rainbow reefs or scuba dive with whale sharks off Bocas del Toro; explore ruined Spanish forts or set sail for the indigenous territory of Guna Yala. Indeed, Panama has succeeded in protecting its native cultures where it neighbours have not.
